The Wall.

My Parents puchased the property where Domek Lesny in 1966. My Father is long time guest of the Lake. He stayed at the Woods resort (cabins) for a long number of years. He always wanted to buy property on the Lake. In fact he told me the Berend Family wanted to sell him the resort, but could not contact him while it was for sale. Now I realize why they could not contact him, it was about the time his Mother died. We did not go to the Lake at that time. When property opened up on the Lake he was lucky to buy this lot, in my opinion the best lot on the Lake.

Over the last several months I have come to really appricate the hard work he had put in to build this house. In fact I always thought my Father was a perfectionist. Well I was wrong, he was a perfectionist when doing work for other people. But for himself, not too much. I realize my perfectionism comes from my Mother. My Mother would pull apart hours even days of work when should found one little mistake, that is me.

What the heck does this have to do with a wall? Well I built the wall in the above image. It replaced an ugly wrought iron railing which was very unstable. I felt we needed something with strength. We I first put int he frame for the wall, it was very unstable. Then I added the drywall which made it more stable, but you could still move it. It was not until the cap and trim was added that wall became very strong. You can't move that wall now.

I guess I have come to realize that strength does not come with one piece. It comes with several pieces coming together to form a unit.
