Goodbye to old friends

This past week was then end of an era and the beginning of a new one. Our long time friends the Perlwitz's have sold their house and are moving away. We have known them for 40 years, and we have not seen too much of the "Kid's" in the past several years. But we did get together and it was like old times. It was nice to meet their Aunt Paula, I mean Uncle Paul, again. Uncle Paul is Anita's Sister, I mean brother. Below is an image of (from Left to right) my Brother Larry, Lynn Murray, and Paul Perlwitz.

And it was nice to see the rest of the Family.. Sherry and Mark and their parents Fritz and Anita. Goodbye and we see you in November?

Enough of the old era. Now with the new! I have added to my collection of Sear's Aluminum boats! I now am the proud owner of 2 late 1960's Sears Aluminum boats. Both with 9.5 hours power OMC Motors (1 Johnson and 1 Evinrude). I suckered the Perlwitz's into giving me their old boat and I purchased the motor for $25....eBay here I come... I am going to be rich!!!! Ha ha ha!!! Ok. I am just kidding. I am honored to have the boat. I may not have the fastest boat on the Lake, but I do have the 2 oldest boats!

Now on to the stories from last week. My sister Pam and her husband Lou did show up. And we played a little trick on them. You see we moved my mother from a Cemetery near Joliet, Illinois to Domek Lesny. But, we need to find a cemetery (don't worry she is cremated). Well  I had Larry arrange it so that I would meet Pam at a near by Cemetery.

At the Cemetery I had a shovel and rack in the back of my car. Plus a box of ashes. When I arrived  I asked Pam to pick out a spot. After many delays, she picked out an area. That is when I pulled out the rack, shovel and ashes. I handed the rack and shovel to Larry, and then he bumped into me. I feel down to the ground spilling ashes everywhere and then yelled "Noooooo... Ma!". Pam said she did not fall for it, but we know better.

Below are some photos of the work we did.

The top photo shows the new Pocket doors for the bedroom. And the lower photo is the bathroom. We also moved the drain for the shower (9.5 inches). Made a new shower pan. Put up drywall. Taped and mudded joints. Painted. And moved the patio door in 5/8ths of an inch. All in about 7 days.

And what did Mark and Paul do in that same amount of time? Build a shipping container to ship a table to Washington....which was too heavy and had to be redone. Just goes to show you if you want work done, call a Doctor and a Computer geek! Engineers spend too much worrying about design.

I apologize in advance for offending anyone. It has been great knowing the Perlwitz's!

Joe
