Everything changes

In 2006 shortly after my Dad died we started the remodeling project of the interior of the house. My sister came up to pick a sewing machine of my mothers that she wanted. I remember she was crying because most of my parents furniture was gone, the floor (carpeting) in the kitchen was gone, I was starting to tear apart the living room. She wanted to know why I had to change everything, why can't I leave it the same.

I was thinking about what my sister said while driving up for the long labor day weekend. Traffic was horrific. The worst traffic I have ever seen (I am sounding like my father). I have been taking the same route for the last 40 years. We used to take 94 to 894, to 45, to 45/41 to 41, to 110 to 10 to 51, Now it's 94 to 894, to 45, 45/41 to 41, to 45 to 10, I39 to 51. The route used to be mostly be a 2 lane highway, now it's almost 4 lane all the way. The trip between home and Oshkosh is mostly urban. Chicago and Milwaukee are slowly growing together in one big city. Things change.

And in the next fews I will be ending my reign as the Manager of the server team at Loyola. I am looking forward to getting back to the technical work which I enjoy. Things change.

To my sister. Everything changes. That is freaking life, deal with it! Now get a load of this!

Oddly enough the snow shoe has remained on or near the fireplace throughout the entire basement renovation. We all have to keep something from the past. The toilet works!

The floors go in this week. And who would think we have an empty basement!
